Information we collect
Sohum Fam is built local-first. The information you add — family member profiles, calendar events, reminders, recipes, notes, documents, health notes, household expenses and bills, schoolwork, and memories — is stored in an encrypted local database on your device. None of it is uploaded to a server unless you explicitly turn on an optional sync or cloud feature.
Account information
Core use of Sohum Fam does not require creating an account. If you choose to enable optional device sync, we collect the minimum sign-in information needed to link your own devices together.
Family information
Family member names, relationships, roles, calendar events, notes, recipes, documents, health and finance entries, and other content you choose to add all stay on-device by default, in an encrypted local store.
Device and usage information
The app does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. A built-in Privacy Dashboard shows the amount of network data your device has sent, so you can verify this for yourself.
Third-party services and analytics
Sohum Fam does not use third-party analytics or advertising services. Any future addition of a third-party provider will be reflected here before it ships.
Notifications
Reminders and notifications are scheduled and delivered locally on your device. No notification content is routed through an external push-notification service beyond what the operating system itself requires to display them.
Data storage and security
Family data is stored in an encrypted local database on your device. Sensitive records use a separately-keyed encrypted vault. Optional device-to-device sync, where used, is designed to keep your family's information under your control rather than on a third-party server.
Data retention and deletion
Your data stays on your device for as long as you keep the app installed and the data isn't deleted. You can permanently erase everything at any time from Settings → Privacy & data → Delete my data — this is instant and does not require contacting support.
User rights
You can export a copy of your family's data from Settings → Privacy & data → Export my data, and delete all of it at any time from the same screen. For any other request, contact us using the details below.
Children and family privacy
Sohum Fam is intended to be set up and managed by an adult family member. Information about children should only be added by a parent or guardian, using the app's parent/child role settings.
International users
Because Sohum Fam stores family data on-device by default, most information never crosses a border in the first place. Any optional cloud feature will state clearly where that data is processed.
